Limit
LIMIT is a record label born to help diffuse recordings by, in their majority, national composers and performers, individuals lacking representation in the industry’s large multinationals. By creating well-crafted, hand-picked and high quality recordings, we wanted part of our musical heritage to be available in record shops and/or specialised cultural centres.
Pianist and composer Leonora Milà is the label’s flagship, on both performance and composition level. Yet the LIMIT catalogue includes recordings from high-class and internationally renowned orchestras (London Philarmonic Orchestra, Orquesta de Radio Televisión Española, Orchestre National de l'Opera de Monte-Carlo, Central Philharmonic Orchestra of China) and prestigious chamber ensembles (Berliner Strechquintett, Quartet de Barcelona), which form the backbone of our small collection.
LIMIT is owned by El far blau SL (), an independent Catalan production company dedicated to creating audiovisual products of general interest, reports, interviews and/or documentaries. High quality productions, they are created with stern journalistic criteria, a critical eye and ethical commitment. With this objective in mind, El far blau collaborates with a team of professionals from a host of backgrounds: journalism, communications, photography, video, production, direction, graphic design and advertising. This production company is based in Vilanova i la Geltrú (Barcelona).
El far blau and LIMIT are fruit of the hard-work and tenacity of Joan Deltell. Cultural promoter and Leonora Milà’s husband and personal manager, Deltell founded the company Limitada de Produccions SL in 1969 and focused on managing and hiring soloists, orchestras and ensembles from the world of classical music and jazz. Limitada de Produccions also took special interest in the discographic aspects of the artists they represented, hence the creation of the label LIMIT, along with the publishing house Deltell&Son, which centred on the sale of sheet music. With the death of Joan Deltell on April 26, 2009, the production company El far blau absorbed LIMIT, Deltell&Son and, above all, the commitment, principles and objectives that Joan Deltell held true in both his professional and personal life: a dedication to culture.
