The Catalan Television network will broadcast the documentary Leonora Milà. The Intuitively Talented. as a chapter of the music television programme "Cànon Sons" next Tuesday, December the 9th 2008. It will be first broadcasted by 33D channel (TDT - digital) at 19:30 and again by Canal 33 channel (analogue) around 00:30.

Official presentation of Leonora Milà. The Intuitively Talented: Sturday, November the 15th at eight o’clock in the evening, at the Foment Vilanoví (Santa Madrona street, 1) in Vilanova i la Geltrú (Barcelona).

The documentary Leonora Milà. The Intuitively Talented will be officially presented next Saturday, November the 15th, at the society Foment Vilanoví. It is a 57 minutes piece of work, where the experiences and the career path of the pianist and composer Leonora Milà are explained. One at the same time, the important events that belong to 20th century history are included, events that the protagonist experienced herself. Therefore, the documentary is intended to be of general interest, agile and pleasant, and suitable for all audiences, not only for music lovers. It includes other interesting points such as life of artists under Franco regime, the Chinese students’ revolt that led to Tiananmen Square tragic incidents, the fall of the Berlin wall or the way classical music fits in contemporary society, and it becomes interesting for everyone interested in current issues, history, international politics and rigorous and sound journalism. Leonora Milà. The Intuitively Talented is the first project of the independent audiovisual company El far blau. The Catalan public television has collaborated in the project as a joint producer and will soon broadcast it. Most of the major figures taking part of the documentary film, about thirty outstanding personalities belonging to the cultural world, society and contemporary Spanish and Catalan politics will attend its presentation. The new cd from Leonora Milà devoted to Manuel de Falla will be launched early next year under the label Limit. There will be a public presentation in Vilanova i la Geltrú and in Barcelona as well. We will shortly inform you of the place and time of the presentation as well as the exact date when the new record cd will be released.

The pianist and composer Leonora Milà will record a new cd dedicated exclusively to the Spanish composer Manuel de Falla. This recording will include the most famous piano pieces from Falla, like Fantasia Baetica, Siete canciones populares españolas ("Seven Spanish Folksongs"), three of the songs from The Three-Cornered Hat, Cuatro piezas españolas ("Four Spanish Pieces") and the Ritual Fire Dance. This is the way Milà breaks a discographic silence that has lasted almost eleven years, because during these period of time most of her efforts have been focussed on composition. The making of her new record will take place in an outstanding place, the Biblioteca-Museu Víctor Balaguer, in Vilanova i la Geltrú between the 10th and the 14th of November. Little groups of people will be allowed during her life performances recording process. Leonora Milà is considered one of the best performers of Spanish music, and specifically, of Manuel de Falla. She has some recordings of him scattered among different cd’s, but now, they are finally gathered together in just one record. We will be able to enjoy the best piano pieces from Manuel de Falla, performed by someone with the genuine expertise in the composer Leonora Milà has.

It’s a 60 minutes film with the special collaboration of outstanding personages belonging to current politics, society and culture who have had a particularly close friendship and professional relationship with the Catalan artist. Leonora Milà

The pianist and composer Leonora Milà and tenor Carles Masdeu publicly performed together for the first time in 2007, interpreting songs by Eduard Toldrà (Vilanova i la Geltrú 1895-1962). Thanks to his work as orchestra conductor and his talent as composer he is considered one of the most important figures of 20th century Catalan music. The songs for voice and piano, the opera El giravolt de maig and the string quartet Vistes al mar are the most remarkable pieces amongst his extensive work. Leonora Milà and Carles Masdeu have performed pieces by Toldrà in a series of four concerts that have been the first collaboration between the two musicians which represent and symbolize two different generations.

Leonora Milà and Carles Masdeu took part in the last programme of the season of Els Matins de Catalunya Radio which was recorded in Vilanova i la Geltrú, at the head office of the society El Foment Vilanoví,  and broadcast live on of July the 13th, of 2007. Conducted by the journalist Antoni Bassas,  this daily show leads the audience share in Catalan mornings, thanks to 600.000 radio listeners.

The task of Leonora Milà as a composer keeps progressing at a very good pace.  She is currently writing a Requiem and several commissioned works.

Leonora Milà is preparing a new tour as a soloist to some countries of the Meddle East and India, where this Spanish pianist had already performed at the end of the decade of 70’s. In this tour, Milà will play some of her compositions as well as pieces by Manuel de Falla and J.S.Bach.

The collaboration between Leonora Milà and Quartet Barcelona keeps active. They are actually playing the Quintet for piano and strings by the Belgian composer César Frank. Their last performance together took place one year ago in a tribute to Santiago Ruisiñol in the 75th anniversary of his death. Rusiñol was a painter, writer and one of the visible heads of Catalan Modernism. This Quartet Barcelona is formed by Marc Armengol and Edurne Vila (violins), Ulrike Janssen (viola) and Sergi Boadella (cello).
